This Privacy Policy explains how BookQuest collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile app and services. By using BookQuest, you agree to this policy. If you don’t agree, please do not use the app.

1. Information We Collect

BookQuest collects limited personal data to provide and improve the reading experience. Here’s what we collect:

  • Account info: Your email, and optionally your display name, used for signing in through Google, Apple, or email.
  • Reading data: Time spent reading, books logged, streaks, and progress stats.
  • Device data: General information like device type and operating system, used for analytics and bug fixes.
  • Subscription data: If you subscribe to BookQuest Pro, your app store ID and payment info are handled securely by the App Store or Google Play.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to make BookQuest work properly and improve your experience. Specifically, we may:

  • Provide account access and save your reading stats
  • Maintain your streaks and coins
  • Sync your data securely across devices
  • Fix bugs and improve app performance
  • Communicate important updates or service changes
  • Provide AI-based responses about books through ChatGPT (data sent to OpenAI is anonymized)

3. Third-Party Services

BookQuest connects to trusted third-party providers to offer certain features:

  • Google Books API: For book information and cover images.
  • ChatGPT API: To power the AI book assistant. We do not store or use AI queries for advertising or training.
  • Google & Apple Sign-In: For secure account authentication.
  • App Store & Google Play: For subscription payments and management.

Each of these services has its own privacy policy and terms, which you can review on their websites.

4. Data Retention

We keep your data only as long as needed to operate BookQuest and comply with legal obligations. When you delete your account, all personal data and reading history are permanently deleted from our systems (except anonymized usage analytics).

5. Deleting Your Account

You can delete your account anytime by tapping Delete Account in your profile settings. Once deleted, all your reading data, coins, and cosmetics will be removed and cannot be recovered.

6. Children’s Privacy

BookQuest is designed to be safe for users aged 4 and up. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe your child has shared personal data with us, contact us and we’ll remove it promptly.

7. Data Security

We use standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and secure authentication. However, no internet service can guarantee 100% security, so we cannot promise that data will never be compromised.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. If significant changes are made, we’ll notify you in the app or on our website. The “Last updated” date above shows the most recent version.
